Accountability
"With so many things happening in the economy and the regulatory and statutory changes, I knew that Melchert Hubert Sjodin could put my experience to use and serve clients during a critical time."
Kaarin began practicing law in New Ulm, Minnesota, often representing farmers and agribusiness owners regarding real property matters, loan obligations, creditors' issues and the nuances of government oversight.
She enjoys the fast pace of multiple demands when representing creditors and real property owners in a complex regulatory landscape, tracking deadlines or responding to foreclosure and bankruptcy filings and making sure that everything is properly documented and submitted on time. Her attention to detail, negotiation skills and deep knowledge of creditors' rights and obligations supports the Commercial Group at Melchert.
Within that practice area, Kaarin also serves business clients with establishing business entities and the acquisition, regulation and sale of assets. She has practiced law for nine years at different firms, but prefers the client contact of a mid-sized firm. She joined Melchert in 2008.
"Melchert is a very community oriented firm and I appreciate their focus on adding value to a client's life or business. I want to be of service to people who need help."
She often receives calls from people who want more information or reassurance about the consequences of proceeding with a business decision. Kaarin takes time to educate clients on the oversight of local, state and federal government and the potential legal consequences of their choices.
"We are all charged with knowledge of the law, but there is so much to know. I want to help clients resolve a concern sooner rather than later."
