Planning
"A huge part of being an attorney is serving others and serving in the best interest of others. There's real value in the attorney-client relationship. I want to help my clients meet their needs."
Any attorney can provide a client with a proper legal document, but Katie has always taken her work to the next level in estate planning for Melchert Hubert Sjodin.
As a law student, Katie clerked for a solo practitioner specializing in estate planning, elder law and disability law. The experience taught her the importance of quality service and reinforced her desire to make a positive difference in people’s lives.
"You can't have tunnel vision," Katie says. "You have to be extremely thorough in gathering the right information."
Practicing in estate and tax planning, as well as disability and medical assistance planning and general tax and probate issues, Katie enjoys the diligence and knowledge required to address several client issues simultaneously. She has a particular interest in supporting the estate and trust planning of people with disabilities.
"We make it a priority to provide excellent customer service, and we’ve been doing that for years," Katie says. "Our clients walk out of here feeling good about our firm and that keeps them coming back."
