Staff at Melchert Hubert Sjodin raised more than $1,000 for Twin Cities nonprofit Love One Another as part of its second annual Penny Wars competition.

Each month, our firm collects money which we donate to different local charities. In February, we conduct a friendly office competition lasting 2 weeks called Penny Wars which creates much excitement in the Waconia office. We are excited to share that the Attorneys and Staff of our Waconia office have donated a total of $1,044.37 for Love One Another a nonprofit organization founded in 1967 by Allan Law of Minneapolis.  Love One Another is dedicated to serving sandwiches and providing emergency assistance to homeless people in the Twin Cities metro area.

According to Law, Love One Another takes to the streets in the metro every night from 8 p.m. to 11 a.m., handing out sandwiches to the homeless.  According to the group, on any given night there are an estimated 10,000 homeless people in the Twin Cities metro, including 3,000 children under the age of 17.

We celebrated the campaign with another competition — a Hot Dish contest.  Law was invited to the event, where he shared in the lunch and was presented with our donation.
