Wrongful Death.

Minnesota Statutes section 573.02 defines a “wrongful death” as a death that is “caused by the wrongful act or omission of any person or corporation.”  For more than 35 years, we have represented grieving family members following the wrongful death of a loved one as a result of another person’s negligence.

A wrongful death lawsuit must be brought within three years of the victim’s death, with few exceptions.   We understand how difficult it is to face the future after losing your loved one, but it is important to act soon after the wrongful death when witnesses, photographs and evidence are more easily obtained.

One exception to the three year limitation statute is if a Minnesota court has convicted an individual of murder in connection with the death. In that case, there is no time limit on filing a wrongful death lawsuit.
